Welcome to the only website devoted to BOTH famous Peter Kay's!

By some coincidence, the last couple of years have seen the emergence of not one, but TWO British celebrities thrust into the public eye, both sharing the same short, but easy to remember name - Peter Kay. And, also by chance, the two share a rare talent for comedy, whether it be the down-to earth, Northern humour of Peter Kay the comedian, or the tongue-in-cheek writings of Peter A. Kay, the teenage (well, teenage at the time of writing, now 20) author of renowned teen book Tiberius Goes to Rome. While Peter Kay the comedian may have slightly pipped Peter Kay the author in terms of launching himself into the public spotlight, the two are rapidly gaining in status and recognition. Many separate sites have sprung up concerning just one or the other, but there has never been a website dedicated to both talented individuals named Peter Kay - until now.

Peter Kay - comedian

Born in Bolton on 2nd July 1973 to parents Michael (a factory worker) and Deirdre (housewife), Peter Kay had to wait about 23 years until finally discovering his true talent for comedy. Up until then, he had a variety of jobs, including a cinema usher, toilet roll factory worker and DJ. Having left school with only one GCSE in Art and struggling at University (which he had lied about his qualifications to get into), few would have backed Kay ever to amount to much in life, and yet after discovering his love for comedy, he became determined to work as hard as was necessary in order to rise to where he wanted to be. Whilst doing an HND in Media Performance at the Adelphi College in Salford, Kay discovered his flair and love for stand-up after being forced to do it as part of the course. His meteoric rise to fame soon took off after this, particularly in 1997, when he won Channel 4's "So you think you're funny?" stand-up comedy competition in Edinburgh. It's fair to say that much of Peter Kay's wit comes from his observation of others, particularly those he worked with during his less-glamorous jobs in his early years. Despite now being in his 30s, Kay still retains the looks and boyish charm of a 12-year-old, and his less than athletic figure (a contrast to most modern-day celebrities) have not only given him a friendly, trusting air, but have contributed significantly to his excellent portrayal of the stereotypical British beer-drinking man in a number of John Smith's television commercials.

Peter Kay Credits: 1996 - Winner of the North-West Comedian of the Year contest, 1997 - Winner of Channel 4's "So you think you're funny?" contest; Runner-up in BBC New Comedy Award, 1998 - Shortlisted for Perrier Award, 2000 - That Peter Kay Thing (TV), 2001 - Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights (TV), 2004 - Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere

Peter A. Kay - author

In April 2004, the hilarious teen novel "Tiberius Goes to Rome" was published and became available to buy worldwide, through sites such as Amazon. It's hard to believe that the author was only 19 years old! But that's what gives the story one of it's main assets, it's down-to earth take on real teenage life, seen through the eyes of the main character, Tiberius A. Caesar, as he grows up roughly 1,500 years ago in Ancient Rome. Despite being set in a period so many years in the past, readers quickly become aware of just how similar the trials and tribulations of Tiberius are to modern-day teenage life, whether being read by those old enough to look back on those times, or by those with it all yet to come.
